HIKING

The surrounding peaks offer magnificent views of the countryside and the Julian Alps. In the summer, the mountains above Begunje are full of gazing animals. During this time, mountain huts also offer homemade products, such as curdled milk and Ajdovi žganci (buckwheat mush). Here, you can also hike to following locations: Roblek's Hut on Begunjščica (1657 m), Begunjščica (2060 m), Dobrča (1634 m), Sankaška koča (839 m), Stol (3336 m), Planina Planinca (1128 m), Vodiška planina (1110 m), Golica (1835 m), Julian Alps (Triglav National Park), Pokljuka (45 minutes' drive), Lake Bohinj (45 minutes' drive), Mojstrana (30 minutes' drive) and Kranjska Gora (1 hour's drive). Some of these mountain huts are open all year round.

SIGHTS

Nature is our best architect and has enriched our places with many picturesque sights. The most prominent are of course the alpine lakes in Bled and Bohinj, others include: Vintgar Gorge, the cave under Babji zob, Kokra River Canyon, Radovna River Valley, Dovržan Gorge, the confluence of the Sava Bohinjka and Sava Dolinka rivers at Lancovo, as well as the Savica Waterfall and the waterfall under the Iglica River.

Bled Castle, the Kamen Castle with its famous park in Begunje, the medieval town center in Radovljica, the blacksmith's museum in Kropa, Fux's footbridge, the birthplace of France Prešeren (Slovenian greatest poet, author of Zdravljica - the Slovenian national anthem), the Basilica of Our Lady Help of Christians in Brezje, the St. Ulrich Church in Begunje and the Church of St.Peter in Radovljica are also all proud landmarks of our ancestors’ work.

In the Draga Valley, there is also a monument to commemorate the victims of the atrocities of the Second World War – a hostage’s burial site – that reminds us of things that should never repeat.
